Typhoon Haiyan swept across the central Philippines on Nov. 8, 2013 with max wind speed topping 200 mph. It left a trail of massive destruction in its wake. With sustained wind speed at 145 mph, Haiyan was the second category 5 typhoon to strike the island nation this year.
