Last year, BAAFF opened at Brattle Theatre in Cambridge with film The Wedding Banquet by Oscar-winning director Ang Lee. Lee gave a talk to the audience after screening the film.

This year, the festival opens with film Revenge of the Green Dragons on Oct. 23 also at Brattle Theatre. The film was based on a true story. The main plot revolves around two Chinese immigrant brothers and their tough lives living in New York City’s Chinatown in the 1980s. They joined the gang Green Dragons, and rose in the ranks.

Erin from Future Boston Alliance said that she saw highlights of Revenge of the Green Dragons, and looked forward to the opening of BAAFF on Oct. 23. “As an Asian American, I can learn the history and culture of Asian community from a film like Green Dragons,” said Erin.

Susan Chinsen, director of BAAFF, said that the preview party was held for movie lovers to have special screening, and provide feedback for the upcoming film festival. She encourage people to get tickets for all the films to be screened this year. “Asian directors and actors need support from all of us to move forward,” said Ms. Chinsen.
