The above ad was published on Metro Boston edition on Nov. 8, 2013.

The following is text from the ad. “Jimmy Kimmel and the ABC network send a very bad message that it is ‘interesting’ to kill all the people to whom you owe money in ‘The Kids Table – Government Shut Down’ (aired on 10/16/2013). A formal, public apology must be issued by ABC and Jimmy Kimmel to ALL of its viewers, not just those who are Chinese, because this promotes hatred, racism and genocide. ABC should fire Jimmy Kimmel and anyone else responsible for letting this happen. A policy must be institutionalized so that this kind of racist stupidity will never happen again.”

The bottom of the ad has a QR code which links to a whitehouse.gov petition to investigate the Jimmy Kimmel Live show. Large letters of FIRE JIMMY KIMMEL were printed above the QR code.

On Nov. 9, 2013, Boston will join 18 other US cities in a national protest against ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live Kid’s Table segment. Executives at ABC and Jimmy Kimmel have issued apologies after protests were erupted in San Francisco, Los Angels, Boston and other cities last week. However, many Chinese-Americans demanded further actions to be taken to hold people accountable for airing the segment on public airwaves.

According to organizers of the protests, money for the newspaper ad was raised by Chinese Young Professionals Networking (CYPN). There were over 200 people who made donations via www.cypn.net.
