World-renowned Classic Guitarist Xuefei Yang Pays Visit to Boston

Weather turned warm again when Boston ushered in one of the of the greatest classical guitarist Xuefei Yang. On March 9, Xuefei Yang’s solo recital was held in the First Lutheran Church of the Boston with over 300 music fans showing up. This recital was sponsored by the Boston Classical Guitar Society. After Boston Guitar Orchestra’s warm-up performances, Xuefei Yang took the stage. With wonderful music flowing through the six strings of her guitar, the classical guitarist struck a chord with everyone in the audience.


Xuefei Yang was born in Beijing, now living in London, England. At only 7-year-old, she began learning the guitar. According to the authoritative British music magazine “Classic FM, she is now the authority of the as the world’s 100 best musicians. Among guitarists, Yang ranked second to John Williams. Mr. Williams gave his guitar to Yang when he heard Yang playing guitar as a child years ago..

That night, Xuefei Yang performed a dozen or so guitar solos, including Bach’s Violin Sonata, Chopin’s Waltz, as well as the world’s first recorded EMI commissioned composer, Stephen Goss. Xuefei Yang’s guitar skills and performance were impeccable, and the audience responded enthusiastically. Many guitar enthusiasts said “thank you” in Chinese at the end of the show.

Xuefei Yang maintained a busy international performance schedule around the world. She also helped promote guitar music in the her motherland in 2008. In her second album, “latitude 40 degrees North,” there were a collection of Spanish music and Chinese music. The album further explored the tracks of guitar innovation, while promoting the culture of her motherland.
