Pictures from ACLS Chinese New Year Celebrations

Acton, Mass., March 5, 2015, — The Acton Chinese Language School (ACLS) hosted Chinese New Year celebration on March 1 from 3:30 to 8:30 PM at the Acton Boxborough Regional High School. Over 1,000 students, teachers, parents and guests showed up for the cultural events in the afternoon and evening gala performances that featured traditional singing, dancing and musical instruments.

Designed to appeal to all ages from children to senior citizens, The celebration featured Chinese Art & Calligraphy exhibition … Chinese Clay Sculpting & Chinese Brush Painting exhibition … face painting & handcraft exhibition, ancient children’s games & riddles.


A special activity named “Mini China Town” designed by CSL group (Chinese as a Second Language) presented talent show and Kongfu by students. ACLS students and guests enjoyed authentic Chinese New Year greeting customs, and participated in chopsticks games, and making Chinese New Year Crafts.

Many local business sponsored this year’s celebrations, including Good School Realty, Sichuan Gourmet House Restaurant, Spice Pepper Garden Restaurant, Ivy Gate Realty, Kumon Math and Reading Center of Acton, Boston Metro West Bible Church, Marx Fencing Academy, Quinsigmond Dental, United Healthcare Community Plan, Phoenix Real Estate, Auri Elan Financial Group, Quintess Real Estate, N & D Ballet, Sichuan Gourmet House, JW Insurance & Financial Services, and Hongbo Zeng.

The evening gala performances featured traditional and ethnic dancing and singing from Undefeatable Running Club, Acton/Andover Chorus Group, the Acton Little Star (singing group), Sun Flower Singing Group, Chinese Folk Dancing from Angel Dance Performance School, D&N Ballet Dance School, ACLS Dance Class, and ACLS Teacher Group, traditional Chinese musical instruments performances from ACLS Pipa Class, as well as traditional Chinese talk show from ACLS Language Art Performance Class.

Ms. Ying Wu(pictured above) has coached Acton Little Stars for the past five years. In addition to the annual performance at Ms. Wu Vocal Studio, the girls also participated in the various local events. “I’m very proud of them, and glad that we can celebrate Chinese New Year with students and parents of ACLS,” said Ms. Wu.
