Ethiopian Runners Dominate at the 120th Boston Marathon

Boston, April 18, 2016, — It’s a picture perfect day at the 120th running of Boston Marathon. There was a light headwind and temperature in the upper 60s for the elite runners. Lemi Berhanu Hayle won the men’s group in 2:12:45. Fellow Ethiopian Atsede Baysa came from behind and pull ahead in the end to win the women’s group in 2:29:19.

Boston Marathon attracts 500,000 spectators each year, making it New England’s most widely viewed sporting event. Though starting with 18 participants in 1897, the event now attracts an average of about 30,000 registered participants each year, with 30,251 people entering in 2015.
