Boston Chinatown to Hold Nanjing Massacre Candle Light Vigil

Wednesday, December 13, 2017 marks the 80th Anniversary of the “Nanking Massacre” aka “Rape of Nanking”.

Chinese American Citizen’s Alliance (CACA) Boston Lodge will be holding a peaceful candle light vigil at Chinatown Gateway Park from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM on that evening.

This is not an anti-Japanese demonstration. The vigil is to remember what happened 80 years ago and to honor the memories of more than 300,000 Chinese civilians who were raped and murdered by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II.

Esther and I would like to invite all C.A.C.A. members who are current on their membership dues as guest for dinner after the vigil.
Dinner cost for all others will be $25 per person.

The candle light vigil is co-sponsor by the World Kwong Tung Community Association New England USA, Inc.

Please come and join us.

Regards,

About Nanking Massacre

The Nanking Massacre was an episode of mass murder and mass rape committed by Japanese troops against the residents of Nanjing (Nanking), then the capital of the Republic of China, during the Second Sino-Japanese War. The massacre is also known as the Rape of Nanking or, using Pinyin romanization, the Nanjing Massacre or Rape of Nanjing.

The massacre occurred over a period of six weeks starting on December 13, 1937, the day that the Japanese captured Nanjing. During this period, soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army murdered Chinese civilians and disarmed combatants who numbered over 300,000 and perpetrated widespread rape and looting.
