之前有人問關於猶太人的政治傾向問題,我不是猶太人無法作答,但問了一個猶太朋友。下面是他的簡答:Q: Why do Jews tend to be Democrat rather than Republican?

You know I’ve thought about that and it’s probably better for a complex conversation than an email but I think the short answer is that most very religious (orthodox Jews for example) are socially conservative and would tend to be more republican, but most Jews in the US are “reformed” or not very religious and they tend be liberal. I think it comes out of the fact they live or grow up in very urban coastal cities like New York City and LA where you get exposed more to liberalism on the natural and Jewish culture that really seems to focus on sympathizing with and helping the less fortunate and Minorities. Jews are very sympathetic to minorities because of historical poor treatment and discrimination over the past 2000 years or so! Even though in my opinion many of the traditional minorities in the US don’t care about Jews and probably are somewhat anti-Semitic in general.

I think they’re highly educated and successful and have “Jewish” guilt, which I don’t get!

Jews are treated as Caucasian whites males as far as SCA 5 and other such things, despite being probably one of smallest minority groups. Apparently no one is worried about us being disadvantaged! I love bringing that up along with 5000 years of slavery when I chat with my black friends 🙂

I think the republican trend of conservative Christian support in the bible belt states that took hold over the Party in the past few decades was worrisome to many Jews who don’t know what it means for them in terms of support or anti- Semitism.

With Obama, I know some democrat Jews worried about support for Israel – where republicans are much stronger – but it wasn’t enough to substantially move them.

Anyway that’s my general sense of the issue.
