Potential Executive Staff Opening with Middlesex Sheriff’s Office – Looking for Candidates

Currently looking at possibly adding a member to their staff at the Sheriff’s Office. As people whose input, opinions, and recommendations I trust I am reaching out to you to help with the search for the right person. On a personal note I would love to see this position filled by a member of an underrepresented community and someone with a socially/politically progressive viewpoint.

The role would be as a personal aide to the Sheriff (though the title might ultimately be different). The primary responsibilities would include (but are not limited to):

Driving the Sheriff to and/from events, meetings, etc.
Providing advance/body staff work for the Sheriff at departmental and outside events
Event photography (ranging from cell phone pictures for rapid release via social media to more professional style camera usage)
Assisting with special projects assigned by other members of the Sheriff’s executive staff, primarily at the direction of the Chief of Staff
    Other duties as assigned
This job will operate primarily out of our Medford office (400 Mystic Avenue)
    Requirements/Skills:
    Bachelor’s degree or higher
    Valid driver’s license
Ability to pass all required background checks (employment, motor vehicle history, criminal history, etc.)
Ability to work weekends and non-business hours
    Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information
Extreme attention to detail and follow through
    Good sense of humor
Ability to work equally effectively as a team or independently
    Previous corrections/political/campaign experience a plus
Foreign language skills (especially Haitian Creole, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, Khmer, and/or Spanish) a plus
This information is not part of an official job announcement or description, just my understanding of what we are looking at/for. This is an ideal job for someone looking to get started in a politically oriented government environment, or to further a young career in the field.

The salary is in the $45,000+ range, plus full benefits. The county’s agency pension, healthcare, etc. is through the Commonwealth (GIC, Pension Board, etc.)

Candidates are going to start being contacted in the next 2 – 3 weeks. If you have people that you think would be a good fit please have them send their resumes to [email protected] and tell them to indicate who they heard about the position from.
