    READING ROOM LIBRARY STAFF

    The Chinatown Coalition seeks to hire a Reading Room Library Staff for the Chinatown Lantern Cultural and Educational Center. The Chinatown Lantern’s mission is to open and operate an inter-generational space with library, arts and cultural, and community programming services.

    The Reading Room Library Staff will work with an executive committee and supervising staff to oversee operations, program
    development and delivery, and volunteer recruitment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

      Operate and staff a reading room library
      Manage and update a book catalog & circulation system
      Implement a visitor tracking system
      Develop and implement programs
      Recruit, train, and manage volunteers
      Develop and manage relationships with Boston Public Library, Citywide Friends of the BPL, and
      other partners to build and expand services
      Develop and manage relationships with donors to build the book collection
      Build and maintain positive interactions with community residents and other stakeholders
      Ensure that the reading room library is accessible and welcoming

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      A minimum of two years experience in library services, or nonprofit/community-based program
      design and delivery
      Strong organizational and management skills with an attention to detail
      Strong communication skills
      Enthusiasm for working with the public
      Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse groups and individuals
      A strong self-starter who also works well in a team environment
      Bilingual in Cantonese and/or Mandarin preferred

    COMPENSATION

    Full-time position $30,000 to $35,000 for one year with benefits. Commensurate with experience.
