Each year we take this opportunity to recognize a few individuals who have contributed and committed their talents to the arts, culture, and humanities for the betterment of our society. This year’s recipients of the Lifetime Community Service Award will be presented to brothers Bill and Frank Chin for their more than 50 years of dedicated service and support to Chinese immigrant communities, not only in Boston’s Chinatown, but throughout New England.

The Artistic and Cultural Service Award will be presented to the founder of the Chinese Culture Connection’s Multi-Performing Arts Troupe, Xiao Mei Liu for her commitment and dedicated hard work in promoting Chinese arts and culture. The troupe members train and practice weekly, and perform at CCC’s annual Chinese New Year Celebration, as well as at other venues.

Malden is known as one of the most diverse cities in the Commonwealth. Asian immigrants are the biggest minority group in the Malden community. We are very pleased to observe that our Mayor is making every effort to promote the goodness and benefits of diversity to his city. To recognize that effort, we are very pleased to create our inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Award, which we will present to the Mayor of Malden, Gary Christenson.

The Mission of the Chinese Culture Connection, a 501c(3) non-profit organization, is to promote intercultural harmony, strengthen diverse communities, and build bridges between American and Chinese people through interactive educational programs and the arts. At this Annual Gala, we are not only celebrating 26 years of sharing Chinese culture with communities throughout New England, but also raising funds to support the organization’s Mission. Funds raised from this event will support our outreach efforts and help add new programs for the coming year.
