The First Lantern Festival in Boston Chinatown to be Held on Sept. 6

Boston, Sept. 3, 2014, — The first Lantern Festival in Boston Chinatown will be held this week. The opening ceremony is scheduled at 2:00 PM on Sept. 6 at Rose Kennedy Greenway Chinatown park at the gateway (Cross streets at Beach Street and Surface Road).

City of Boston, Chinatown Main Street and Greenway Conservancy present the First Lantern Festival from 11am-9:00pm at Greenway Chinatown park just a couple days before the August Moon Festival on Sept. 8 for this year according to lunar calendar.

Colorful lanterns are traditionally use in many Asians festival celebration and decorative items. Let the colorful lanterns mark off the wonderful summer and ease us into the season of the colorful foliage in New England.

Boston Main Streets Foundation is a City of Boston Initiative, under direction from Mayor Martin J. Walsh, and Dept. of Neighborhood Development, continue to engage with communities. Chinatown Main Street, missions are including Economic Development to assist local businesses and Promotion of the Chinatown community. Chinatown Main Street Board of Directors, Advisers, and Executive Director & volunteers are working hard to introduce and presenting the First Lantern Festival on Greenway- Chinatown Park, the park is located next to the Chinatown gate.
