Boston, June 2, 2014, — The first day of June is International Children’s Day, whereas in Watertown’s Arsenal Park, hundreds of young professionals were also celebrating the festival. The annual BBQ party hosted by Chinese Young Professionals Networking(CYPN) was successfully held on Sunday.
The annual BBQ party has been organized for four times since 2011. This year, the party attracted about four hundred Chinese students and young professionals from the Greater Boston Area. CYPN provided BBQ, appetizer as well as fresh fruit; the giant playground in the park also gave attendees a place to do sports.
According to Daniel Wu, the co-founder of CYPN, it was a coincidence that the BBQ event and Children’s Day happened on the same day. Wu said CYPN tends to organize this outdoor event in June to let people enjoy the great weather.
“We are also building a platform for Chinese students and young professionals to meet with each other,” said Wu in Chinese. “People who do different types of jobs can also exchange their ideas and experience here.”
CYPN was founded in 2010. Now, its Facebook page has attracted around 8,000 members. Among the 20 officers, as Wu introduced, 17 are Chinese who have just started to work for three to four years, while three are students.
Besides the BBQ party, CYPN has also hosted events such as Apple Picking trip in past Autumn and Skiing trip in winter. Wu said they would also send three teams to participate in the Dragon Boat races on Charles River in the weekend of June 14.
