New York City, July 26, 2014, — On Tuesday, July 29, at 9 PM ET, dance group Jasmine Flowers will perform live at Radio City Music Hall to compete in the popular TV show NBC’s America’s Got Talent. The 25 female dancers, age 12 to 18, are from Atlanta area, and they need your vote by text message or on nbc.com within two hours after the episode is aired on July 29 to advance to the next round.
According to NBC America’s Got Talent’s website, Jasmine Flowers is a group of 25 girls who study ballet, Chinese folk dance, hip-hop, jazz and modern dance at the Atlanta Professional Dance Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. Jasmine Flowers dancers have been dancing together for about two years, during which they have become a very close-knit family.
Most of the Jasmine Flowers dancers are the American-born children of Chinese immigrants, and they often use dance as a way to discover and embrace their cultural roots. As a result, many of their dances incorporate elements of both Western dance and traditional Chinese dance.
Jasmine Flower’s audition in Episode 903, aired on June 10, 2014, consisted of performing a Chinese ballet piece coined “Ballet Jasmine Flowers.” The routine involved folding, unfolding, and moving fans to form a variety of flowery shapes, and had brought many awards for Jasmine Flower in dance contests before they appeared on America’s Got Talent. Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel all voted “Yes,” sending the group to Judgment Week. They advanced again in the episode aired on July 23.
A proud father of one of the Jasmine Flowers dancers shared the dance group’s story and pictures on popular mobile app WeChat, and asked people to vote for Jasmine Flowers on July 29. He mentioned that Jasmine Flower was invited to compete on America’s Got Talent after a scout discovered the dance group earlier this year.
