After a 34 minute power outage, the 4 hour plus Super Bowl game came down to the final two minutes. Baltimore’s defense made a goal line stand with the and then took a safety with the punter wasting 8 seconds in the corner of the end zone.
The Cinderella story of Colin Kaepernick ended when Ted Ginn Jr. was tackled by Baltimore Ravens’ special team as time expired. But, the second-year quarterback’s talent was in full display in this hotly contested Super Bowl as Kaepernick passed for over 300 yards and ran for a touchdown.

With three touchdown passes, Joe Flacco was voted Super Bowl MVP. When the last time Super Bowl was played in New Orleans in February 2002, then second year quarterback Tom Brady of New England Patriots won the MVP trophy.
Many San Fransisco fans were upset about a defense penalty that was never called during 49ers’ last drive at the five yard line. The replay showed that Ravens cornerback Jimmy Dykes grabbed and held Michael Crabtree in the end zone. A defense holding or pass interference penalty could have been called by the referees, but they kept the yellow flags in their pockets. A defense penalty would give 49ers a new set of downs and move the ball event closer to the goal line.
“To those of you saying stop whining san fran fans…. I would like to see you watch your team come back in the super bowl and have that play happen and see if your not a teeny bit POd that it happened,” Christopher Lee Young commented on nfl.com.
