ACMA To Hold Medical Career Education Session in Lexington on May 30

Boston, May 22, 2015, –ACMA will hold a medical career education session at the Lexington Library (1874 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, MA 02420) on Saturday, May 30 from 10:00 AM to 1PM.

Various medical professionals including physician/surgeon, pharmacist, medical residents and current medical students will come to talk about their career paths to medical school, residency program and pharmacy school. They will provide valuable information about medical school admission, residency match preparation and job seeking skills.

Topics will also address medical residency match preparation for foreign medical graduates.

Session One: Medicine as a career and how to apply for medical school and pharmacy school Intended Audience: High school and college students who are interested in a career in medicine or pharmacy. Speakers: Physicians, a pharmacist and current medical students.

Topics:
1. How to prepare and apply for medical school (course selection in college, Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) preparation and extracurricular activities essential for application packet)
2. How to apply for pharmacy school?
3. How do you know medicine or pharmacy is the right career choice for you?

Session Two: How to prepare and apply for medical residency program Intended Audience: Foreign medical graduates and current medical students who are interested in applying for medical residency in the US Speakers: Physicians/surgeon and current medical residents

Topics:
1. How to prepare for USMLE exams (focusing on practice examinations)
2. How to write a stellar CV, how to seek recommendation letters and prepare for an interview3. Extracurricular activities that increase odds of matching to a residency program

Session Three: Group Q&A session. Please do not miss this great educational and networking opportunity. You will have time for face-to-face consultations with physicians of various specialties.
