Hongbing Tang on Ballot in Today’s Boxboro Town Election

Boxboro, Mass., May 18, 2015, — The Annual Town Election is being held today at Boxboro Town Hall, 29 Middle Road. Eight candidates are on this year’s ballot, including Chinese American candidate for planning board Ms. Hongbing Tang in this quiet bedroom town at the intersection of I-495 and route 2.

The polls will be open from NOON-8PM. Click here to view candidates and offices to be on the ballot. 

As the number of Asian American residents in Boxboro steadily increases over past two decades attacted by the good school system and affordable housing. Many of these newcomers start to volunteer or serve in town committees.

Ms. Tang is a certified landscape architect in MA. She has designed and managed a wide variety of projects in US and China with creative landscape design solutions for public parks and private gardens, residential communities, schools and universities, commercial and mixed-use urban development and cultural landscape, such as the Boston Greenway project.

“I hope I can use my skills to server Boxboro where I live and my kids go to school,” said Ms. Tang.

In town of Weston, Xinsheng Zhu was elected as committee member of Culture and Recreation Committee as a write-in candidate on May 9. There were 1363 valid ballots in the Weston town election, and 1269 out of which didn’t fill in a write-in candidate for Recreation Committee.

“I plan to bring voices of Asian Americans and work with other members of the committee to enrich lives of Weston residents,” said Mr. Zhu during a phone interview with bostonese.com.
