QARI’s mission is to foster and improve the social, cultural, economic and civic lives of Asian Americans and their families to benefit Quincy and its neighboring communities. The organization provides resources for low-income, immigrant Asian-Americans, adult education programs, youth development and community cultural events, such as the Lunar New Year Festival and the August Moon Festival.

On Jan. 30, QARI’s 28th Lunar New Year Market and Food Festival drew close to 10,000 visitors. It was a celebration of the Year of the Monkey and featured retail vendors selling goods for New Years (red envelopes, seeds, flowers, bamboo) and craft retailers from local artists. In addition, there was a Food Festival to celebrate the diversity of Asian foods and restaurants from all across the Boston and South Shore area. There was also be a children’s carnival area, an afternoon karaoke competition, and fun activities for families and people of all ages.

Mabel Wong wrote on the event’s Facebook page:”Thanks QARI for such a wonderful event! I met so many lovely people and had an opportunity showcase my newly added jewelry collection of my online store! Hope to see all of you again soon! To see all collections, please visit www.citycharmstyle.com

“Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Lunar New Year with us today and for supporting us in all the work that we do in the community. This has been the most well attended, food filled, and fun filled festival that we have ever held,” wrote the event organizer on QARI’s Facebook page.
