  • Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse — A Living Link Between Boston’s History and the Legacy of Dr. MLK Jr.

    Boston, January 19, 2026 (Bostonese.com) — Just days before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Quincy Mayor Tom Koch celebrated 99th birthday of Brigadier General Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse—veteran of World War II, member of the Tuskegee Airmen, and classmate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Boston University.

    “Last week, it was a true privilege to represent the City of Quincy and honor a great American hero, Brigadier General Enoch Woody Woodhouse, as he celebrated his 99th birthday. General Woodhouse served our nation with distinction in World War II as part of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen. This morning, the City of Quincy invites everyone to join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at our MLK Day gathering at the Tirrell Room, and we are proud to welcome General Woodhouse as our keynote speaker.   • Guangzhou Association Hosts Better Beach Event: A Celebration of Culture and Environmental Awareness

    Quincy, MA, June 8, 2025, — Under clear skies and a gentle sea breeze, the Boston Guangzhou Association held its “Better Beach” community event at Wollaston Beach in Quincy today, drawing a large crowd of members and local residents. The event combined entertainment, environmental advocacy, and community engagement, showcasing both cultural pride and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. This event was sponsored by non-profit organization Save The Harbor/Save The Bay and Massachusetts DCR department.

  • Angela He of Wellesley College Crowned as 2024 Miss Chinese Boston

    Boston, Oct. 25, 2024, — The award ceremony for the fourth Miss Chinese Boston organized by the Chinese American Heritage Foundation (CAHF) was held at the China Pearl Restaurant in Quincy on Oct. 20. In the presence of nearly 200 guests, the 2023 Miss Chinese Boston, Sarah Chu, crowned Angela He, a student from the renowned Wellesley College, as the 2024 Miss Chinese Boston.

  • Quincy Nonprofit Wins Free Solar PV System

    Quincy, Mass., September 16, 2016, — A year after its official end, Solarize Quincy, a city and state program offering discounted solar electricity (PV) systems, continues to transform the city’s landscape. The program resulted in contracts for 110 solar PV systems installed on the roofs of Quincy residences and businesses, for a combined total size of more than 600 kilowatts (KW). Under the agreement between Solarize Quincy and its selected installer, that figure more than met the threshold for a 5 KW solar PV system to be donated to a Quincy nonprofit by the installer, SolarFlair of Ashland.

    Quincy, Mass., — March 28, 2016, — US Senator Elizabeth Warren visited South Cove Community Health Center (SCCHC)’s Quincy clinic on Thursday, March 24. She was very impressed by the quality health case delivered at this facility with relatively low costs. Quincy Mayor Tom Koch, State Rep. Tackey Chan accompanied Senator Warren for the visit.
