Our second TRI-STATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP will take place on Sun Aug 26. We encourage everyone to participate, whether you play tennis or not is not as important, but we will use these opportunities to promote friendships, we will have picnic, tennis and games, and to connect with each other again!
Some of the Tri-State Championship New York team members practicing at the USTA outdoor courts on August 16.
For this event, you can contribute mainly along the following lines of categories: 1) spectators or casual participants, 2) beginners tennis lessons and practice, 3) recreational tennis matches – all levels, 4) competitive tennis tournaments, USTA ratings mostly 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0 individually, or 6.0, 7.0 or 8.0 as a doubles team, finally 5) coordinators, umpire or instructors.
There will be four categories of round robin competitions: |
1) Ladies Doubles (up to USTA combined ratings of 6.0, typically two 2.5-3.0 level players)
2) Mixed Doubles (up to USTA ratings of 6.5 or 7.0, typically two 3.5 level players), 2 groups A and B
3) Gentlemen’s Doubles (up to USTA ratings of 7.0 or 7.5), 2 groups A and B
4) Gentlemen’s Doubles (up to USTA ratings of 8.0)
Depending on the number of players, each group will have 4 teams of 2 players, and every team will compete with every other team in its group. Even if you loss to one team you can still get a trophy, since this is based on the highest total score and not by elimination.
Each individual player from the first two teams with the highest round-robin scores in each group will receive a trophy.
Besides trophies, we will provide food and drink and the entry cost will be $15 for competitors and tennis participants, and $10 for picnic spectators, or free of charge if you will not be participating in the picnic.
