“My Life In China” is a personal film that takes viewers on a journey to rural China where an emotional revelation takes place. The story explores the filmmakers struggle to understand his father’s immigration story. Says Eng, “My father would always tell us his story about walking for 7 days and 6 nights, before swimming for 4 hours to Macau to escape communism in 1966. His story would fall on my deaf ears until I returned to China with him.”

“My Life in China” won the 2014 jury award for Best Documentary at the San Diego Asian Film Festival and was an Official Selection for nine other international film festivals. The film combines parts in English with Chinese subtitles and Chinese with English subtitles.

This event is free and open to the public. Donation is welcome. Light refreshments will be served following the screening. RSVPs are requested to plan for refreshments. Please email [email protected].
