  • Colonial Figure Skating Club Presents Dreams of Gold

    Boxborough, Mass., May 8, 2014, — In this quiet town 25 miles northwest of Boston, you don’t expect to see a show that features some of the best young figure skaters in the US. Colonial Figure Skating(CFS) Club, whose elite alumni includes Olympic medalists Nancy Kerrigan, Tiffany Scott and Paul Wylie, held its annual Ice Crystals Show “Dreams of Gold” at Nashoba Olympia Rink in Boxborough on May 3 and 4.

  • Largest Thai Buddhist Temple in the US Topped Off

    Boston, May 10, 2014, — Constructed on 35 acres previously occupied by a farm in Raynham Mass, Thai Buddhist temple Wat Nawamin opened its doors to the public in June 2006. The ground breaking ceremony for the temple building took place on May 5, 2011. Three years later, the grand structure was finally topped off.

  • Chinese Railroad Workers Inducted to Labor Hall of Honor

    Washington, D.C., May 9, 2014, — The Department of Labor inducted Chinese Railroad Workers into the Labor Hall of Honor in a ceremony earlier today. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez presides at the ceremony. Chinese workers finally receive their due 145 years after their work completed.

  • Why the New SAT Shouldn’t Scare You

    So far, all you have heard about the new, redesigned SAT is in regard to its structure:

    • The 2400 scale goes back to a 1600 scale.
    • No more penalties for wrong answers.
    • Partial calculator use on the math section.
    • An optional essay section.

    While this is useful and interesting, what is far more important for student test-takers in the class of 2017 and later is information about the actual content of the test and how one can best learn to master it.

  • ACMES to Host Spring Medical Conference and “Love for Autism” Charity Concert on May 25

    Boston, May 8, 2014, — American Chinese Medical Exchange Society (ACMES) will hold its Spring medical conference featuring common issue in primary care and international autism forum at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Shapiro 10 conference center) from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on May 25. The primary care medicine session will cover new advances for type 2 diabetes, hepatitis/hepatoma and GERD. After the conference, attendees will join “Walk for Autism” from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to Jordan Hall in Back Bay (about 1.2 mile), and then enjoy “Spring Love for Autism” Chinese zither charity concert featuring renowned artist Hui Weng in the evening.

  • Highly Skilled Immigrants — America Wants You!

    Washington, D.C., May 6, 2014,  — As part of the Administration’s continuing commitment to attract and retain highly skilled immigrants, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced the publication of two proposed rules, including a rule to extend employment authorization to spouses of certain H-1B workers, and a proposal to enhance opportunities for certain groups of highly-skilled workers by removing obstacles to their remaining in the United States.

  • Pianist Sean Chen to Debut at Jordan Hall on May 24

  • Mountains of People at Season Comic Exhibition in Shenzhen

    Shenzhen, China, May 2, 2014, — Season Comic Exhibition (Summer) 2014 opened in Shenzhen on May 2. I had looked forward to it for a long time. I have been to HK C3 and Shenzhen ACG(Animation, Comic and Game) Exhibition before, but never been to SCE (Season Comic Exhibition). Today is the opening day of SCE – Summer. I spent some time on the long queue outside the exhibition. There were mountains of people there.
