  • Alibaba’s Aliyun to Open Singapore Cloud Data Center

    SINGAPORE, August 19, 2015, (BUSINESS WIRE)– Aliyun, Alibaba Group’s (BABA) cloud computing arm, today announced that it will establish a new cloud data center in Singapore. Its headquarters for overseas business will also be based out of Singapore to drive Aliyun’s overseas expansion plan. Scheduled for an early September launch, the Singapore facility will be the seventh globally.

  • Six Chinese Citizens Killed in a Bomb Attack in Bangkok

    Bangkok, Thailand, August 19, — A bomb attack in Bangkok took place on 17 August 2015 outside the Erawan Shrine at the Ratchaprasong intersection in Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, Thailand. Twenty-five people were killed, including six Chinese citizens, and 123 were injured.

    Tianjin, August 17, 2015, — The 2015 Tianjin explosions were a series of explosions that occurred at a container storage station at the Port of Tianjin starting on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. At lease 112 people, including 39 firefighters, were killed and 721 of others were injured. There are still dozens of people missing as of today.

  • The Fifth AA Day Meets ATV Miss Asia at August Moon Festival

    Boston, August 10, 2015, — Boston Chinatown was filled with food vendors, exhibition booths, lovely souvenirs, and exciting performances at yesterday’s annual August Moon Festival. Ten of thousands visitors and residents showed up for the festivities, organized by CCBA New England, on a perfect summer day. Besides the traditional lion dances and Cantonese opera, the Chinese calligraphy and music performances by ATV Miss Asia contestants at the Asian American Association of Boston (AAAB) booth drew cheers and applause from the audience.

  • Boston Works to Boost Composting and Recycling

    Boston, August 7, 2015, — Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s Office of Neighborhood Services, Environment, Energy & Open Space, and the City of Boston Public Works Department joined community partners in building an Aerated Static Pile Facility, from which heated carbon dioxide-enriched air is captured and pumped into an adjacent greenhouse, at the Mattapan Ecovation Center to boost composting and recycling in the City of Boston.
