    Cambridge, Mass., June 9, 2014, — Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association New England (SAPA-NE) annual conference will take place at MIT Sloan School of Management Tang Center on June 21, 2014 (8:00 am – 5:30 pm). This year the theme of the conference is “Open Innovation and Global Collaboration: Improve efficiency and productivity of pharmaceutical & Biotech Industries”.

  • Tufts University Receives Approval to Operate Tuberculosis Research Lab

    Boston, June 3, 2014 — Tufts University has received a permit from the Boston Public Health Commission to operate the Arnold 8 Biosafety Laboratory, a new research laboratory that will focus on finding innovative ways to detect, prevent and treat tuberculosis. The 1,700-square-foot Biosafety Level 3 laboratory is located within Tufts School of Medicine’s existing Biomedical Research and Public Health Building at 136 Harrison Avenue.

  • Chen Xuemei: Female Students of Life Sciences Need More Encouragement

    Beijing, China, May 22, 2014 (from pku.edu.cn) — There are ten Chinese scientists who have been elected Member of National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of the United States with higher education background in Mainland China, according to preliminary estimates in 2014. Only three of these ten are women. Professor Chen Xuemei, an outstanding Peking University alumna, is one of them.

  • ACMES to Host Spring Medical Conference and “Love for Autism” Charity Concert on May 25

    Boston, May 8, 2014, — American Chinese Medical Exchange Society (ACMES) will hold its Spring medical conference featuring common issue in primary care and international autism forum at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Shapiro 10 conference center) from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on May 25. The primary care medicine session will cover new advances for type 2 diabetes, hepatitis/hepatoma and GERD. After the conference, attendees will join “Walk for Autism” from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to Jordan Hall in Back Bay (about 1.2 mile), and then enjoy “Spring Love for Autism” Chinese zither charity concert featuring renowned artist Hui Weng in the evening.

  • Tufts Medical Center to Hold Asthma Awareness Fairs in May

    Boston, April 23, 2014, — In recognition of Asthma Awareness Month (coming up in May), the Asthma Prevention and Management Initiative (APMI), an initiative of Community Health Improvement Programs department at Tufts Medical Center, is organizing several asthma awareness health fairs to provide community education and raise awareness about our home visiting, educational, and clinical programs. The fairs are free and open to the public and we encourage children and their families to attend to learn more.

  • Frank Chin Receives Life Time Achievement Award

    Boston, April 8, 2014, — Eighty-two years old Frank Chin, also known as Uncle Frank in Boston Chinatown, was recently awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by Tufts Medical Center(TMC). The city of Boston also declared March 26, 2014 as Frank Chin Day.

  • Dr. Michael Wagner Named President and CEO of Tufts Medical Center in Permanent Capacity

    Boston, April 3, 2014, -– The Tufts Medical Center Board of Trustees announced today that it has voted unanimously to appoint Michael Wagner, MD, FACP as President and CEO of Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children on a permanent basis. Wagner, a nationally respected physician executive and health care thought leader, has held the title of Interim President and CEO since September 2013. He had previously served as President and CEO of the 550-member Tufts Medical Center Physicians Organization and Tufts MC’s Chief Medical Officer.
