  • Taiwan Opens First Mainland Trade Promotion Center in Shanghai

    SHANGHAI – Taiwan’s leading trade promotion agency opened its first office in the Chinese mainland in Shanghai on Tuesday.

    The Taipei World Trade Center, which opened the Taiwan Trade Center Shanghai Representative Office, is expected to open another office in Beijing by the end of this year, said its president Wang Chih-Kang.

  • 新年伊始 清华校友仲兴博士纽瓦克不幸遇难

    【波士顿华人双语网综合报道】新泽西理工学院(NJIT)数学系博士后、中国留学生仲兴的死讯在2013年元旦传出之后，在中美两国都引起了极大的震惊。仲兴博士毕业于清华大学，是一位高材生和非常有前景的青年数学家。他的死因目前纽瓦克警方还在调查中，多家媒体报道称有劫杀的可能性，不过校方的声明表示仲兴被发现的现场没有抢劫的证据，他的身上也没有伤口。新泽西理工学院所在的纽瓦克市是新泽西州暴力罪案最高的城市之一，每年有近百人死于他杀。

    日前，校方为仲兴举行了追思会，仲兴妈妈，一位平凡而伟大的母亲，会后说：“这是一个刑事案，与学校没有关系。此类抢劫案会在世界任何角落发生，希望所有海外华人提高安全防范意识，尽量少走夜路。” 仲兴妈妈感谢大家追思仲兴，全文在这里。

  • New Law Allows Up To Ten “Virtual Schools” in Massachusetts

    BOSTON – January 4, 2013 – Governor Deval Patrick yesterday signed H. 4274, “An Act Establishing Commonwealth Virtual Schools.” This legislation expands online educational opportunities for students across the Commonwealth and secures proper state oversight of virtual schools to ensure that all students receive a high quality education.
