  • New Online Resource Provides Immigration Information in Up to 22 Different Languages

    WASHINGTON— U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today launched its online Multilingual Resource Center, a new feature on www.uscis.gov. The center provides a central location for USCIS resources in a variety of languages, to include —Haitian Creole, Polish and Vietnamese. Offering certain immigration application information in other languages helps ensure USCIS communicates across many cultures and reaches a broader audience, while also ensuring that customers obtain information directly from USCIS, and not from unofficial—and possibly unscrupulous—sources. Materials are available in up to 22 languages, covering information on USCIS application processes as well as frequently asked questions.

  • Massachusetts Goes Green – Over 100 Cities and Towns Are Now Green Communities

    BOSTON – Tuesday, July 24, 2012 – Governor Deval Patrick today joined state and local officials to announce that Massachusetts is now home to over 100 Green Communities. At an event at the State House, the Governor announced the designation of 17 new Green Communities, bringing the total number up to 103 cities and towns. Nearly half of Massachusetts residents, or 44 percent, now live in a Green Community.

  • The 9th Annual Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festival – Cool Place Amid Heat Wave

    The 9th Annual Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festival was held from July 12 to 15, 2012, amid of a 7-day heat wave in the Boston area in Revere Beach, Mass. Over half million spectators visited the 4-day festival. Tourists enjoyed the beautiful sand sculptures by artists, new features including the interactive Kid’s Zone and Learning Center, the hearty and healthy beach-side food pavilion, and sea breezes from the Atlantic Ocean.

  • Michael Chang Hopes “Linsanity” to Continue in Houston

    NEWPORT BEACH, California–Former world No. 2 tennis player Michael Chang, a professional who once carried the hope of his fellow Asian Americans, expressed the hope Sunday that “Linsanity” will continue after Jeremy Lin starts playing for the Houston Rockets.

    Before Jeremy Lin (林書豪), Chang (張德培) was perhaps the most famous American athlete of Chinese descent. After retiring from professional tennis, Chang has been involved in the training of several young tennis players.(CNA)

  • Nightmare in Colorado, When Violence in Movies Becomes Reality at Midnight Screening

    AURORA, Colorado, July 21 (Xinhua) — “I still can’t believe it. It’s still unreal. I can’t believe something just happened so close to our home,” Janelle Janrett told Xinhua, recalling the Aurora theater mass shooting that killed 12 people and injured 58 others early Friday morning.

    She was praying at a roadside memorial for the victims of the shooting, one of which was her friend who had been killed.

  • Student Achievement Gains in U.S. Fail to Close International Achievement Gap

    CAMBRIDGE, MA – A new study of international and U.S. state trends in student achievement growth shows that the United States is squarely in the middle of a group of 49 nations in 4th and 8th grade test score gains in math, reading, and science over the period 1995-2009.
