    Boston, Dec. 24, 2018, — Earlier this year, Matthew Teitelbaum, Ann and Graham Gund Director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), announced that Christina Yu Yu has been appointed as the Matsutaro Shoriki Chair, Art of Asia. An alumna of Wellesley College and Boston University, Ms. Yu (pictured below) returned to Boston and assumed her new role at the MFA.

  • Boston Nonprofit CAHF to Sponsor 2019 Rose Parade Float “Harmony Through Union”

    Boston, Oct. 28, 2018, — The Chinese American Heritage Foundation (CAHF), a community-driven organization in Boston Chinatown that promotes the recognition and appreciation of the historical contributions made by Chinese-Americans to the United States, is fielding a “Harmony Through Union” float for the 2019 Rose Parade in Pasadena.

    Wilson Lee and Esther Lee are also members of Chinese American Citizen’s Alliance (CACA).

  • US Senate Candidate Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai Visits Boston Chinatown

    Boston, Oct. 22, 2018, In less than three weeks before the mid-tern election, Independent candidate for US Senate Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai and United Nations strategist Shaoyu Yuan came to Boston Chinatown. They spoke with Asian community leaders. The attendees included the President of Empire Auction House Nick Pan, board member of Asian American Association of Boston Fei Pan, President of World Art Centre and Artist Molly Mao.

  • Dr. Leana Wen — The Incoming President of Planned Parenthood

    Washington, DC, Sept. 12, 2018, — For the first time in nearly 50 years, a doctor will lead Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Along with Planned Parenthood’s 12 million supporters, Dr. Wen will lead the fight to protect access to reproductive health care.

  • Centennial Enterprises as Sources of Innovation in Emerging Economies

    Many less-developed countries and emerging economies have long-established enterprises. They were often founded at times when countries were colonies or had semi-colonial status. They have grown through the twists and turn caused by political upheaval related to national independence and post-independence experiments with nationalist, inward-looking economic policies. Ownership of companies may have changed, as some were nationalized, while others continued as privately owned ventures. Either way, there are many examples of centennial enterprises that on the basis of growth in domestic markets are now competitive international companies. Many of these enterprises were in the past important conduits for economic exchanges between the Western and less-developed countries. They were also conduits for the absorption, adaptation and further development of technology, and therefore important contributors to economic growth in emerging economies. Two well-known prominent examples of such centennial enterprises are the Ayala and Tata conglomerate enterprises in respectively the Philippines and India.

    It’s a honor to meet you all here at Harvard University to exchange our ideas and discuss about meaningful topics. Being part of a think tank, lately I received the same question many times: what happened to this world? Why do I feel constantly anxious and nervous? My answer is that the world is changing, unprecedentedly in its speed, depth and range. Then their follow-up question would be, then is the world changing for better or worse? I’ll look into their eyes and tell them: it depends on you, your dreams and your actions.

  • The Moy Family Honored at A Taste of Ginger

    Boston, April 12, 2018, A Taste of Ginger was held on April 9 at Museum of Fine Art with about 300 guests attending. It’s one of Boston’s largest food events of the year benefiting Joslin Diabetes Center’s Asian American Diabetes Initiative (AADI). The Moy family, including Ricky Moy, Brian Moy and Patty Moy, were honored at the event for their generous support.
