Ying He Appointed Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Clarkson University
Potsdam, NY, Sept. 29, 2015, — Ying He received her bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Wuhan University in China, her master of science in applied statistics from Bowling Green State University, and her Ph.D. in biostatistics from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Dr. Liu Yuanli — One of UMN China 100
Boston, Sept. 16, 2015, — As one of the founders of the first US-China Health Summit in 2011, Dr. Liu Yuanli is well-known in public health field in the US and in China. He was recently listed as one of 100 distinguished University of Minnesota alumni from China. Dr. Liu is now dean of Beijing Union Medical College School of Public Health.

Three More World Championships for Kathryn Tian This Summer

Boston, Sept. 3, 2015, — By the end of the World Championships held by American Taekwondo Association in Little Rock, Arkansas, Kathryn Tian from Los Angeles had won championships in three competitions, including the women’s 15-to-17-year-old creative martial arts competition, competition with equipment and the ultimate boxing match. So far, she has already won 17 junior world championships, and is well on her way of realizing her dream of winning Olympic gold medal representing the USA.

An American Teacher’s Advice to Chinese Students on Learning English

My time in Hangzhou is drawing to a close, and I want to extend my gratitude generally to the kind people of this city, and specifically to the more than 400 HFLS students I had the pleasure of teaching this past semester. I bow to your studious, curious natures and credit you with revitalizing my passion for education. Many of you are working towards studying or working in English-speaking communities, and now that gaokao is over and final exams are nearly upon us, I am certain that I know what you are thinking as summer vacation approaches: how can I use all of this glorious free time to improve my English? Fortunately, I’m here to offer you some parting advice on how to improve your already-impressive command of my native language.
