  • Rising Star — Wellesley College Wushu Team

    Located in the western Boston suburbs, Wellesley College is the famed alma mater of notable female Chinese figures like Soong Mei-Ling and Bing Xing and US presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. Recently, the Wellesley Wushu Team attended the 2015 Cultural Day event on campus, featuring a 9-minute wushu performance with demonstrations on all sorts of Chinese weapons: straight sword, broadsword, three-section cudgel and staff. Their performances garnered enthusiastic cheering from about a thousand audience members composed of distinguished professors and students alike.

  • Coco Miao Wins ATV Miss Asia US East Coast Competition

    Boston, Dec. 4, 2015, — Northeaster University student Coco Miao captured the crown at the ATV Miss Asia US East Coast competition, held in New York City recently. Miss. Miao advances to the 27th ATV Miss Asia Pageant finals in Hong Kong.

    As a community, we are deeply saddened by the recent loss of Ed.D. student, Yan Yang, Ed.M. ’10, who passed away on Friday, November 13th. Yang is remembered by many as a friend, colleague, teacher, student, and mentor. During her time here at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) she had a deep impact on all who knew her, loved her, and worked with her.

  • GBAAYSO Celebrates Five Year Anniversary with Concert in Lexington

    I was invited to a concert of Greater Boston Asian-American Youth Symphony Orchestra(GBAAYSO) at Cary Memory Hall in Lexington on Nov. 14. This concert celebrated GBAAYSO’s five-year anniversary with a program of both Eastern and Western music. The String Quartet of GBAAYSO also performed at the opening ceremony of “Xinjing 24 Hours” photo exhibition at Asian Cultural Center Boston on Nov. 20.

  • Progress Update from Asian American Coalition for Education

    The Asian American Coalition for Education (“AACE”) is a non-political, non-profit, national organization devoted to promoting equal rights for Asian-Americans in education and education-related activities. In May 2015, the founders of AACE united more than 60 Asian American organizations to file a complaint with Department of Justice and Department of Education regarding Harvard University’s discriminatory practices against Asian American applicants. It was one of the largest joint actions ever taken by Asian American organizations in pursuit of equal education rights.

  • The Latest US Export to China: NCAA Sports!

    Hangzhou, China, Nov. 19, 2015 – The student-athletes participating in the Pac-12 China Game and their university delegations visited the headquarters of Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA) in Hangzhou to kick off the historic week of activities in China. The Pac-12 China Game presented by Alibaba Group was played on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai and is the latest event in the Pac-12’s Global Initiative.
