  • Ying Wu’s Vocal Classes Celebrated Year of Dragon with Beautiful Songs

    On the afternoon and evening of January 28, Ying Wu’s vocal classes held a Chinese New Year’s concert in Hancock United Church of Christ in Lexington, Mass.

    As a special guest, Kristy Lee, New England’s only 24-hour news TV station NECN’s morning news anchor, hosted the concert. The daughter of the Korean-American anchor is also a student of Ms. Ying Wu. Piano accompaniment was by Boston’s renowned pianist David Collins.

  • From Chemistry Engineer to Comedian – A Dialogue with Joe Wong

    In the afternoon of March 25, MIT Chinese Student and Scholar Association (CSSA) Career Development team hosted a special lecture, titled “From chemistry engineer to comedian – a dialogue with Joe Wong” at classroom 35-225 at MIT. Well-known Chinese American comedian Joe Wong shared his experience from a chemistry engineer to a stand-up comedian with over 100 attendees.

  • Zhejiang University Boston Alumni Celebrated Year of Dragon Together

    Located on the banks of the beautiful West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China, Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of the finest universities in China. On the afternoon of Feb. 18, 2012, more than 100 Zhejiang University (ZJU) alumni and their relatives attended the ZJU Alumni Association – Boston 2012 Chinese New Year Festival at Cambridge Center for Chinese Culture in Waltham, MA. After sharing delicious dinner, participants listened to several alumni vivid memories of their alma mater and their experiences living in Boston. 89-year-old alumnae, Shugai Zhang, recollected the years of ZJU moving westward when Japan invaded China during World War II, which sparked a strong sense of pride among attendees.

  • Donation to Dr. Peng Wang’s Family Is Urged after Tragic Accident

    Dr. Peng Wang, a 2004 PhD graduate from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University was involved in a fatal automobile accident on his way to work in Rhode Island on February 6, 2012. He was the husband of Ran Luo and the father of seven-month old Carolyn Wang.

    Dr. Wang was born in Loudi, Hunan, China in 1975. He was an outstanding student, and earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. In the eyes of his co-workers and friends, Dr. Wang was an outstanding scientist and loving husband and father.

  • Angel Dance Company Celebrates Chinese New Year in Style

    Chinese people have particular affection for the Year of the Dragon. As the only imaginary animal in the 12 zodiacs, the dragon totem symbolizes the Chinese people’s indomitable spirit and courage. In the evening of February 19, 2012, 300 dancers from Angel Dance Company and other friendly dance groups presented a Chinese New Year dance show at Massachusetts Bay Community College McKenzie auditorium.  In front of an audience of more than 500, dancers celebrated the Year of Dragon with performances full of Chinese national styles and music. Even though not every movement by the dancers was impeccable, each dancer’s love of dance and devotion to performance impressed everyone in the audience.

  • New England Chinese Professionals’ Chinese New Year Gala – A Show of Force

    In the afternoon and evening of January 28, the 2012 New  England Chinese professionals’ Chinese New Year Gala and Community Forums were held in the Sheraton Hotel in Framingham, MA. More than 500 medical, IT, finance and accounting, legal, education and scientific research Chinese professionals, entrepreneurs and distinguished guests attended the event to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Dragon. The high-level positions held by many attendees, high-quality community forum and wonderful performances after the banquet, reflecting that the Chinese professional associations of the New England region with unity, cooperation and service to the community, have become a political and economic force to be reckoned with.
