    (In 1936, Mr. Shih Ying Lee became a freshman at Tsinghua University(THU) in Beijing, China. After his freshman year, Mr. Lee had to travel many miles to Changsha, and then Kunming as Tsinghua University had to relocate due to the Japanese invasion. Mr. Lee arrived Boston to study at MIT as a graduate student in 1942. Ms. Lee later became a professor at MIT, and an entrepreneur. This article is from Prof Lee’s autobiography.)

  • MIT Graduate Michelle Lee Confirmed as First Women Director of USPTO

    Washington, D.C., March 9, 2015, — Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed Michelle K. Lee as Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the first woman to hold this position in the USPTO’s 200+ year history. While women represent less than 15% of executive officers in the private sector, more than 40% of the USPTO’s executive officer positions are filled by women.

  • Prometheon Pharma Wins 2014 MIT CHIEF Business Plan Contest

    Cambridge, Mass., Nov. 28, 2014 — MIT-CHIEF is the largest China-focused event in the 150+ years of MIT’s history. The MIT-CHIEF “Pitch to China” Business Plan Contest brings together hundreds of teams representing renowned institutions across the United States and China. This year, there were 200+ applicants from around the world. 52 teams reached the semi-finals across 5 different tracks. The 6 Finalists were selected by a panel of 50 experienced judges from the US and China. Despite fierce competition from other contestants including MIT and Harvard,Devon Grimmé (Director, Business Development) and Dr. Stephen Hsu (CEO/CSO) led Prometheon to the Grand Prize (1st Place) in an exciting Finale.

  • MIT Receives $15 Million from Hewlett Foundation for Cyber Security Research

  • Experts Give Talks on Global Innovation Leadership at MIT

    Cambridge, Mass., August 4, 2014, — If you want to get latest updates on global innovation, there is no better place than the classroom of MIT. Lecturers from Harvard University, MIT and Tsinghua University delivered insightful speeches on Innovation and Entrepreneurship yesterday at MIT Sloan School of Management, a few blocks away from Kendall Square subway station. About 80 members of MIT-CHIEF, delegation of Tsinghua educational management to USA, scholars and students from Harvard, MIT, UC Berkeley, Beijing Normal University attended the seminar.

  • Solar Bench Charging Station Coming to Boston Parks

    Boston, June 27, 2014, –Some Boston area parks will be piloting a 21st Century bench upgrade through a partnership with the MIT Media Lab spin-off firm, Changing Environments. “Soofa,” as the bench is termed, is a solar-powered outdoor charging station that also collects and shares location-based information like air quality and noise level data. The high-tech benches will be deployed in green spaces in Boston over the next week, including in Titus Sparrow Park in the South End, the Boston Common, and the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The Soofa debuted last week at the White House Maker Faire in Washington, D.C., where select innovators and entrepreneurs gathered to encourage robust development of new American ideas.

  • World’s First Smart Home Audio and Lighting Solution Launched by Belleds Technologies

    Cambridge, Mass., — June 17, 2014 — Cambridge, MA — June 17, 2014 — Belleds Technologies announces its support for Apple’s HomeKit during its Kickstarter campaign launch today from the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship.
