Luckily, with the launch of the new MITx course 2.03x Dynamics and the near simultaneous publication of the new OCW Scholar course 2.003SC Engineering Dynamics, along with the long-available MIT OCW publication of 2.003 Modeling Dynamics and Control I, we have a great opportunity to better understand the spectrum of digital learning opportunities now available from MIT. These are not exactly the same course in each case (2.03 is a new generation of curriculum replacing 2.003 in the residential program), but they are close enough for purposes of illustration:

CNASA to Host 10th Annual Badminton Tournament at MIT

September 9, 2013, Boston, — Chinese North America Sports Association (CNASA) will host its popular annual badminton tournament on October 12 at Zesiger Athletic Center of MIT. The CNASA Cup badminton tournament attracts a dozen or so teams from East Coast each year. Wilson Li, a member of the Championship team in 2011, will be this year’s Chief Referee.

This year’s tournament is co-hosted by MIT CAST. Registration Fee for each team is $120 (including court fee and shuttlecocks). Please send a check payable to CNASA to: “CNASA, 8 Marion Rd, Belmont MA 02478.” For more information about CNASA Cup badminton tournament, please visit www.cnasa.org.

The 15th SAPA-NE Annual Conference Focuses on Scientific Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship

The 2013 annual conference of Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association New England (SAPA-NE) was successfully held on May 25 at MIT. The day-long event attracted close to 500 attendees. It started with lectures at the Wang Auditorium at the Sloan School, and ended with a banquet at the Walker Memorial Morse Hall just a few blocks away in MIT campus. Board members of SAPA-NE also shared a birthday cake to celebrate SAPA-NE’s 15th birthday at end of the banquet.

Focusing on “Accelerating Drug Development”, Boston BioForum 2013 Hands out Excellence in Innovation Awards

Cambridge, Mass., April 28, — Boston Bioforum 2013, the annual conference of Chinese Americal BioMedical Association (CABA), was held on April 27 at MIT Faculty Club. Many attendees traveled from the West Coast or even from China to show their support for Boston and CABA, less than two weeks after the Boston Marathon bombings.

Heng Nikita Guo, We Will Always Remember Your Beautiful Smile

Just when Hurricane Sandy was making all the headlines, 28-year-old Chinese student Heng Nikita Guo was found dead in her apartment in Cambridge, Mass. on Oct. 26, 2012. Ms. Guo’s death was later ruled a suicide by medical examiner. A second year MBA student at MIT Sloan School of Management, Heng Nikita Guo’s death raised concerns about the unrelenting pressure and workload at top US universities, especially for international students. As students returning campus from winter break, Nikita’s memory is still vivid among her classmates and friends.
