Judges selected Late Glory as one of the best 100 WWII books for the honor from among more than 1,000 publications.

The book tells the story of the D-Day invasion through the eyes of Arthur Wong, a Chinese-American soldier who earned the Purple Heart and numerous other recognitions for his military service. Primarily an oral history, the book recounts Wong’s wartime exploits as well as the political maneuvering it took for his bravery to be officially recognized. The book’s description notes that although Wong is highly decorated, he did not receive his accolades until 2010.

Co-author Li is a journalist in Boston. He and Yang are identified on the book by their English names, David and Amy, respectively. Mr. Li is working on an English version of the book: Dragon Teeth, Arthur Wong’s Journal from Taishan to Omaha Beach.
