Boston Public Schools Closed on Thursday as Second Winter Storm in a Week Arrives
BOSTON – Wednesday, March 7, 2018 – Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced the City’s continued preparations for the winter storm, which is expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of heavy, wet snow with most snow accumulating after 8pm tonight and ending around 6am Thursday morning. A winter storm warning will be in effect until 1pm Thursday afternoon. Sustained winds of 10-20MPH are expected throughout the duration of the storm, with wind gusts up to 40MPH.
Boston Public Works helped cleanup streets in Quincy after the March 2 winder storm caused significant damage in Quincy.

Cardinal Sean O’Malley Celebrates Chinese New Year in Chinatown

Boston, Feb. 19, 2018, — The Belmont Chinese American Association (BCAA) held a cultural festival at the Chenery Middle School recently to celebrate the Chinese the New Year of the Dog. This is the second year in a row such a colorful celebration was held in Belmont, and it draw over 700 people to the festivities.

AALAM & Ten Other Orgs Condemn WEEI Host’s Racist Behavior
Boston, Feb. 15, 2018, — The Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts (AALAM), and ten other bar associations and community organizations (see full list below), strongly condemn the recent offensive, racist, and insensitive conduct of WEEI sports-talk radio host Christian Fauria on his last Friday’s program (2/9/18) wherein he mocked sports agent Don Yee, the agent for NFL players Tom Brady and Jimmy Garappolo, by imitating him using a racially stereotyped, over-the-top Asian accent.
Fauria mentioned he apologized to Don Yee in this tweet.

Save Dr. Janet Hsu! A Guardian Angel for Children
Dear Committee members,
I am writing to share a sad news with you and ask your assistance to spread the message. Janet Hsu-Lin (許捷), an emergency pediatrician, who served as the camp doctor of NECYSC for several years in the past and continued to support our camp as a sponsor, was recently diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia). I’ve known Janet for more than ten years, and there is no doubt that she is one of the kindest and compassionate people that I’ve encountered. Besides NECYSC, she also volunteered to be the school doctor of Lexington Chinese School and had taken care of thousands of kids at Boston Children’s Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and more recently, at her own practice, KidsWell.

Asian American Voters Rejoice as MA Bill H3361 Rejected on Beacon Hill

Boston, Feb. 7, 2018, — Many Asian American voters celebrated today as the Asian Disaggregation bill H3361, in its current form, was rejected by the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight in the State House. Thousands of Asian American voters have protested against this bill over pass seven months.
