  • Harvard’s Jenny Liu Wins 2016 USA Miss Asia

    Boston, Dec. 28, 2016, — For the second year in a row, a contestant from Boston was crowned as the winner of USA Miss Asia pageant. The final contest of 2016 USA Miss Asia was held in Brooklyn, New York, just before the Christmas. Jenny Aizhou Liu(刘爱舟), a graduate student of Harvard University, emerged as the winner from the 10 finalists, mostly students from top Universities like Harvard, BU, BC and Columbia.

  • Winners of Asian Health Photo Contest Revealed

    Quincy, Mass., Dec. 23, 2016, — The results of the Asian Health photo contest was announced at the annual meeting of Boston Chinese Photographers’ Association (BCPA) at Harvard Pilgrim Quincy office on Saturday, Dec. 17. Over 100 BCPA members and guests attended this annual meeting in spite of snowy weather.

  • Haier Products Assist MIT Professor in Cutting-edge Research

    Cambridge, Mass., Dec. 19, 2016, — The Pew Charitable Trust recently named its annual list “37 Scientists Who Could Change the World”, among which there’s a Boston-based scholar, Omer Yilmaz. He is a young associate professor at MIT, focusing on cancer research. Prof. Yilmaz became famous for his latest research that was published on the academic journal Nature. After repeated experiments, he found why obese people are faced with higher risks of cancers: the stem cells are stimulated and a kind of protein that controls metabolism is activated.

  • Video: Duet of Pianist Yidan Guo and Violinist Shaoqing Xu at MIT

    Cambridge, Mass., Dec. 15, 2016, — Pianist Yidan Guo and Violinist Shaoqing Xu gave a wonderful performance at start of Ms. Guo’s Student Piano Recital on Saturday at MIT. The duet was a classic Chinese piece, and was well received by near 100 in the audience.

  • Shareco to Take 34.9% Stake in Global Eagle Entertainment

    Beijing, November 25, 2016 — On November 9, Beijing Shareco Technologies Co., Ltd. (“Shareco”, NEEQ: 837676) and Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. (“GEE”, NASDAQ: ENT) jointly announced that Shareco plans to acquire up to a 34.9% stake in GEE for approximately US$416mm, and would become GEE’s single largest shareholder post-transaction. Shareco and GEE also expect to form a China joint venture (the “China JV”), focusing on in-flight connectivity (“IFC”) and in-flight entertainment (“IFE”) services (collectively IFEC).

  • Chinese King of Pop Wang LeeHom Rocks BSO and Receives Honorary Degree from Berklee

    Boston, Nov. 15, 2016, — The fully-packed, sold-out performance hall at BSO was packed with over 2,500 Sunday night. They embraced Wang LeeHom, who received an honorary doctoral degree from Berklee College of Music, along with the array of orchestral, vocal, and Chinese drum performers, many of whom are current students or faculty of world-renowned Berklee College of Music.

    Acton, Mass., Nov. 13, 2016, — 2016 Acton Chinese Music Night was held at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School last night. Over 600 people showed up for this late Fall concert that featured The Sounds of China: Music from the Dream of the Red Chamber.
