  • Top 100 Runners at 2013 Salt Lake City Marathon

    The 2013 Salt Lake City Marathon is the first major Marathon race after the Boston Marathon bombings. Security was visibly enhanced throughout the race course on Saturday, April 20.

    Bryant Jensen, 29-year-old from Ogden, UT, crossed the finish first in 2:30:14. A total of 905 runners participated in this year’s Marathon, with 890 of them finished the 26.2 mile race. James Gilbert, 50-year-old from Thunder Bay, ON, was the last one to cross finish line in 6:42:15.

  • Fourteen Researchers Honored at 2013 Harvard Chinese Life Science Research Symposium

    Boston, April 22, 2013, — Harvard Medical School- Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association (HMS-CSSA) has selected twelve young investigators for 2013 Harvard Chinese Life Science Annual Distinguished Research Award. The two-day Symposium was held on April 13 and 14 at Harvard Medical School, and attracted about 200 participants from Harvard Medical School and 17 affiliated institutions, major US medical and research institutions across the country, and Chinese medical science research community.

  • Cancer Survivors from Shanghai to Present a Special Performance at John Hancock Hall

    A special performance will be presented by the performing troupe of the Shanghai Cancer Rehabilitation Club, composed entirely of cancer survivors. It will be staged at John Hancock Hall in Boston on May 14, 2013 at 7:30 PM.

  • Malden Beats: Earth Day Celebration, James M. Sherman, Jr. Honored, and Opening of Oak Grove Pedal and Park Program

    Mayor Gary Christenson joined DPW Director Bob Knox, Foreman John Hoskyns and Craftsman Steve Ruddock to celebrate Earth Day with Beebe School students. The students were educated on the importance of keeping the storm drains clear so that dirt and debris does not pollute the river. A demonstration of the DPW Vactor Truck which vacuums and flushes out clogged storm drains interested the students and teachers alike!

  • Funerals Begin for Boston Bombing Victims

    Boston, April 22, 2013, — A day of remembrance in Massachusetts reached around the world.

    Hundreds of mourners crowded outside a suburban Boston church on Monday for the first of a series of funerals for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. It was followed by an evening university service for another young life cut short, this time a student from China.

    Boston, April 22, 2013, — Family members of Lingzi Lu, who died from the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15, arrived at Logan airport at around 12:05 a.m. on April 20. Chinese ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai was at the airport to greet the family members.
