Malden Beats: Earth Day Celebration, James M. Sherman, Jr. Honored, and Opening of Oak Grove Pedal and Park Program
Mayor Gary Christenson joined DPW Director Bob Knox, Foreman John Hoskyns and Craftsman Steve Ruddock to celebrate Earth Day with Beebe School students. The students were educated on the importance of keeping the storm drains clear so that dirt and debris does not pollute the river. A demonstration of the DPW Vactor Truck which vacuums and flushes out clogged storm drains interested the students and teachers alike!

Funerals Begin for Boston Bombing Victims

Boston, April 22, 2013, — A day of remembrance in Massachusetts reached around the world.
Hundreds of mourners crowded outside a suburban Boston church on Monday for the first of a series of funerals for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. It was followed by an evening university service for another young life cut short, this time a student from China.

Scripture tells us to “run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Run with endurance the race that is set before us.
On Monday morning, the sun rose over Boston. The sunlight glistened off the Statehouse dome. In the Common and the Public Garden, spring was in bloom. On this Patriot’s Day, like so many before, fans jumped onto the T to see the Sox at Fenway. In Hopkinton, runners laced up their shoes and set out on a 26.2-mile test of dedication and grit and the human spirit. And across this city, hundreds of thousands of Bostonians lined the streets — to hand the runners cups of water and to cheer them on.
