  • Acton’s Iris Zhao Qualifies for U.S. Figure Skating Championships

    Acton, Mass., Nov. 23, 2013, — Washington Figure Skating Club (WFSC), the largest U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned Club, is the host of the 2014 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships, November 19-23, 2013, at Ashburn Ice House. In the Juvenile Girls completion on Nov. 20, 12-year-old Iris Zhao from Acton, Mass. finished at fourth place, and qualified for Prudential 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships to be held in Boston from Jan. 5 to 12, 2014.

  • Young Pianist Kevin Zhao Holds Recital at Longy School of Music

    Cambridge, Mass., Nov. 18, 2013, — When pianist Dr. Lin Lin moved to Boston ten years ago, 5-year-old Kevin Zhao became her first student. Ten years later, you can see how proud Dr. Lin was from the smiles on her face at Kevin Zhao’s recital at Longy School of music in the evening of Nov. 9, 2013.

  • Tsinghua University SEM Appoints New Advisory Board Members: Tim Cook, Ma Yun and Jim Breyer

    Beijing, Oct. 28, 2013, — On Oct. 23, School of Economics and Management (SEM) Advisory Committee of Tsinghua University, the leading university in science and technology fields in China, held 2013 meeting at Tsinghua University. Three new members were appointed to SEM’s Advisory Board: Tim Cook, Apple CEO , Ma Yun, founder of Alibaba Group, and Jim Breyer, venture capitalist and board member of Harvard University.

  • Willy Wu and Betsy Pu Win Lincoln Labs National Education Competition

    Acton, Mass., Oct. 20, 2013, –Willy Wu of Acton Boxborough Regional High School and Betsy Pu of Lexington High School recently won the first place of the prestigious Lincoln Labs National Education Competition. They are also Kapparate CS03 students, and developed the winning application with Kapparate instructor Ben Pu.

  • YES 8.0 and Marketing Workshop, A Busy Month at NECINA

    Boston, October, 17, 2013, –On Saturday, October 19 (9AM-5PM), the kickoff session of New England Chinese Information and Networking Association (NECINA) Marketing Workshop will be held at Cambridge Innovation Center at One Broadway in Cambridge. A couple weeks earlier, the Youth Entrepreneurship Service (YES) 8.0 had kick off session at the same building, with over 30 students in attendance.

  • Dr. Yu-lan Lin Receives NECLTA’s Lifetime Achievement Award

    Rode Island, October 9, 2013, — At the second annual meeting of NECLTA on Oct. 5 at URI Confucius Institute, Dr. Yu-lan Lin received the NECLTA’s Lifetime Achievement Award from president Wenchao He. Dr. Lin has retired from Boston Public Schools this year. Many teachers at the annual meeting took the opportunity to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Lin for her tireless dedication to the field. Dr. Lin is a founding board member of NECLTA.

    Confused about the many digital learning opportunities from MIT?  You’re not alone.  Luckily, with the launch of the new MITx course 2.03x Dynamics and the near simultaneous publication of the new OCW Scholar course 2.003SC Engineering Dynamics, along with the long-available MIT OCW publication of 2.003 Modeling Dynamics and Control I, we have a great opportunity to better understand the spectrum of digital learning opportunities now available from MIT.  These are not exactly the same course in each case (2.03 is a new generation of curriculum replacing 2.003 in the residential program), but they are close enough for purposes of illustration:
