  • ACLS Celebrates Year of the Horse with “Essence of China”

    Acton, Mass., Feb. 10, 2014, — The Acton Chinese Language School (ACLS) hosted a day-long Chinese New Year Celebration gala on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the RJ Grey Junior High School. Close to 1,000 ACLS teachers, students, parents and local residents attended this annual event.

  • White House Announces Major Progress toward ConnectED Goal for K-12 Education

    Washington, DC, Feb. 4, 2014, — Today, following up on his call to action, the President is announcing major progress toward realizing the ConnectED goal to get high-speed Internet connectivity and educational technology into classrooms, and into the hands of teachers trained on its advantages. The FCC and private sector are taking key steps to answer the President’s call, including through:

    Over $750 million in private-sector commitments to deliver cutting-edge technologies to classrooms, including devices, free software, teacher professional development, and home wireless connectivity.

  • Empow Studios Empower Kids for Technology Economy of Tomorrow

    Lexington, Mass., Jan. 23, 2013, — I started to do some research on local technology classes for kids when my 5-year-old son told me that he wanted to become a robot builder a few weeks ago. A friend of mine mentioned Empow Studios to me. I made a visit to Empow Studios in downtown Lexington a couple days ago, and had a brief interview with its founder Mr. Leonid Tunik.

  • Boston Closes Schools on Jan. 22 as Mayor Walsh Declares Snow Emergency

    Boston, Jan. 21, 2013, –Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced City response plans for the impending winter storm expected to bring 8 to 10 inches of snow to Boston this evening and tomorrow. The Mayor declared a Snow Emergency and Parking Ban for the City of Boston, in effect tonight, Tuesday, January 21, at 6:00 p.m. Boston Public Schools have canceled afternoon activities today, Tuesday, January 21, and schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22.

This year’s Spring Festival Gala is organized by the eight Ivy League schools to celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year.   • University of Utah Establishes Partnership with Nankai University

    Salt Lake City, — The University of Utah announced a new collaborative education program with Nankai University in Tianjin, China, that will expand global partnerships in Asia. Called the 3+X program, it will provide Chinese students the opportunity to attend both universities and receive a bachelor’s degree from Nankai University and master’s degree from the U.

  • Mayor Menino Announces New ESOL Funding for New Bostonians @ “We Are Boston” Gala

    Dec. 16, 2013, — Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Office of New Bostonians (ONB) tonight handed out awards for four individuals for their outstanding contributions in promoting Boston’s rich diversity at the eighth annual We Are Boston gala on Dec. 12, 2013. Mayor Menino also announced $200,000 in funding to strengthen English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programming through English for New Bostonians.

  • The 100,000 Strong Foundation Hosts Inaugural Conference
