Malden, Mass., Dec. 17, 2014, — Mayor Gary Christenson recently welcomed Cha Shu Bubble Tea to 62 Summer Street with a ribbon cutting. Cha Shu serves coffee, bubble tea, light sandwiches and pastries and has a breakfast menu consisting of bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and French toast. Chinese baked specialty items such as buns and egg tarts are available on weekends.

Malden Beats: Earth Day Celebration, James M. Sherman, Jr. Honored, and Opening of Oak Grove Pedal and Park Program
Mayor Gary Christenson joined DPW Director Bob Knox, Foreman John Hoskyns and Craftsman Steve Ruddock to celebrate Earth Day with Beebe School students. The students were educated on the importance of keeping the storm drains clear so that dirt and debris does not pollute the river. A demonstration of the DPW Vactor Truck which vacuums and flushes out clogged storm drains interested the students and teachers alike!

This year’s recipient of the Community Services Award will be presented to Lieutenant Kevin Molis of the Malden Police Department for his 30 plus years of dedicated service and support to the residents of Malden. The Artistic and Cultural Service Award, will be presented to Chi-Sun Chan, conductor of the Youth Chinese Music Ensemble at the Greater Boston Chinese Cultural Association (GBCCA), for his commitment to promoting cultural understanding through traditional Chinese music. In memory of famous Chinatown Community Activist Reggie Wong, the Outstanding Achievement Award will be presented to the Boston Knights Chinese Athletic Club for its invaluable contributions, dedicated service, and outstanding achievement in supporting the Chinese immigrant youth community.
The evening will feature an overview of the Chinese Culture Connection’s nearly 30 years of accomplishments. It will also include live and silent auction items, live entertainment, and sumptuous authentic Chinese cuisine. Popular WROR (105.7 FM) Radio Personality Hank Morse will serve as the Auctioneer for the Evening. Hank, a Medford native, is the long-time Traffic Reporter on the Award-Winning “Loren & Wally Show” and WKLB (Country Radio 102.5 FM). Each year we take this opportunity to recognize three individuals whom have contributed and committed their talents in the arts, culture, and humanities for the betterment of our society.

Malden Beats: Teen Enrichment Center Receives $2,500 Donation, Amira Market Grand Opening
Malden, Mass. -- Friends and Family of Frank “Frankie” DeCandia presented a $2,500 check to the Malden Teen Enrichment Center on behalf of the “Frank Says Hi Scholarship Foundation”, a non-profit organization founded in 2010 in the memory of Frank DeCandia, a 22 year old Malden resident who lost his courageous battle with leukemia in 2008. Frank, a lifelong Malden resident, was a student at Suffolk University studying journalism when he was diagnosed with leukemia.

Malden Beats: Cub Scouts Give Back, Mayor’s First Online Forum of 2013, Panning Board Vacancy
Malden, Mass. — Malden Cub Scout Pack 603 skipped their annual holiday party this year and instead made it about giving and helping others in the community. They joined forces with the Bread of Life and assisted on two separate occasions with packaging gifts that the Bread of Life hands out on Christmas Day.
