Pictures and Video from Ying Wu Vocal Studio Annual Recital

Boston, May 26, 2015, Ying Wu Vocal Studio held annual concert at Follen Community Church in Lexington, Mass on May 2. Over 20 Chinese folk songs and Western opera pieces were performed to the delight of an audience of about 150.

Mezzo-soprano Ms. Ying Wu opened the recital with a famous Chinese folk song Here Comes Good Luck. Students of Ms. Wu then performed to the audience of more than 20 Chinese and foreign songs, such as Disney film Sleeping Beauty theme song I’ve Seen You in a Dream, excepts from the musical “Les Miserables”, All I ask of You from Phantom of the Opera and Chinese Folk Songs. Ms. Hongling Liang served as piano accompanist for the recital.


Sunflower Children’s Choir also performed classic songs like The Sound of Music. Their lovely performances were cheered on by the audience. This is the fifth year that Acton Little Stars is coached by their vocal teacher Ms. Wu. In addition to the annual performances of Ms. Wu vocal studio, the girls also participated in the Acton Chinese school yearly performance, Xi Yang Yang New Year’s Concert, Acton International Cultural Festival and Lantern Festival performances at Boston Metrowest Bible Church. Since 2009, Mr. Wu has studied privately with Wellesley College voice faculty Gale Fuller for two years and New England Conservatory professor D’Anna Fortunato for two years. In 2013, She was back to school and enrolled in the Master of Opera program at Longy School of Music of Bard college in Cambridge.

Within five years of her moving to Boston, Ms. Wu has successfully established her vocal studio and taught over a hundred students using her unique Ground-Up Vocal Pedagogy. She and her large studio of singers have successfully presented concerts at Follen Church over past few years.
