Boston, Aug. 24, 2026, – Today, Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) and Lori Trahan (MA-03), endorsed Tram Nguyen’s campaign for Congress. Congresswomen Pressley and Trahan are the first members of the Massachusetts delegation to endorse in this race. Nguyen made history with her election to the State House in 2018 and would be the first Immigrant elected to represent Massachusetts in Congress in over 100 years

Today’s endorsement builds on the more than 100 of Tram’s colleagues in the State House, city and town leaders, labor organizations throughout the district and state, Progressive Mass, the SEIU State Council and Massachusetts Governor’s Councillor Eunice Zeigler who have endorsed her run for Congress.
First elected in 2018, Congresswoman Pressley made history as the first woman of color elected to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Congress. In the six-plus years since then, she has asked the hard questions, unapologetically pursued impactful policy solutions, and relentlessly worked for her district.
Congresswoman Pressley currently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. She is Co-Chair of the Reproductive Freedom Caucus, Co-Chair of the Equal Rights Amendment Caucus, a founding member of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, Founding Chair of the Future of Transportation Caucus, co-founder of the House Haiti Caucus, and a member of several other caucuses and task forces.

Meet Tram Nguyen
A political refugee. An attorney for people who needed an advocate. A representative who works for you. A Congresswoman for all of us.
When she was just five years old, Tram and her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime and came to America as political refugees with only $100 and a dream. Now, she’s running for Congress to fight for that dream and keep it alive for all of us.
The first in her family to graduate from college, Tram earned degrees from Tufts University, Northeastern School of Law, and the Harvard Kennedy School. As an attorney at Greater Boston Legal Services, she led the Civil Legal Assistance for Victims of Crime program. There she dedicated herself to fighting for those too often left behind, including survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low wage workers, and people with disabilities. In this role, Tram oversaw efforts to help victims of violence, wage theft, and exploitation rebuild their lives and find justice.
In 2018, she took on entrenched State House Republican incumbent Jim Lyons. In a race some thought to be unwinnable, she defeated him by ten points. Since then, Tram has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, working to support public schools, combat climate change, and strengthen workers’ rights.
Now Tram is running for Congress to tackle the high cost of living, expand affordable housing, protect fundamental freedoms, and restore trust in our democracy. Tram knows that we don’t have to choose between making life better for people, and standing up to Trump. We can, and we must, do both.
Tram lives in Andover with her husband Nathan and their two rescue dogs, Bruno and Sunny. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and trying new recipes, supporting local restaurants, and listening to music to relax. She has also long loved singing and dancing.
