    【侨报周末特约记者李强波士顿图文报道】10月6日，新英格兰地区中文教师协会（NECLTA）假塔夫茨大学音乐中心剧院举行成立大会，并召开该协会的第一次学术研讨会。近两百位与会者在上午的开幕式上见证了协会正式成立的历史时刻，其中有50人在会议当天就加入协会成为会员；下午则分组进行中文教学方面的学术讨论。

  • Earthquake in Maine Shook Office Buildings in Boston Area

    Boston – An office worker was about to leave office a few minutes after a meeting ended at 7:00 PM ET, when he felt the three story office building north of Boston shook for a few seconds. “I ran over to the window, and saw the trees were not moving. So, it couldn’t be the wind,” he told reporter over the phone. Electricity and Internet services were not interrupted according to the office worker. One of his coworkers also felt the earthquake on the first floor of the office building. “It was like an elephant was walking on the second floor,” she said.

  • USCIS To Host Chinese-Language “Jiao Liu” Engagement on October 18

    BOSTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will host a free information session of our “Jiao Liu” series on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. (EDT). The topic will be “Petitioning for an Immediate Relative.” This national session will be exclusively in Chinese and available for the public to participate via Internet or toll-free telephone.

  • BSHC Hosts Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser to Increase Supportive Housing Programs for Boston’s Low Income Seniors

    Boston – Boston Senior Home Care (BSHC) will host its Annual Celebration and Fundraiser on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston. The event will feature a live and silent auction, hors d’oeuvres with a cash bar, and music by Jazz in the Air. The goal for the event is to raise $100,000 dollars to increase the number of Supportive Housing programs in the City of Boston. Several State and City officials, members of the BSHC Board of Directors, staff and numerous business partners who work on behalf of BSHC consumers are expected to be in attendance.

    现任美国福茂集团董事长的赵锡成驰骋美国航运界数十载，成就斐然。曾获颁第62届“奥尔杰(Horatio Alger)杰出美国人”奖，被誉为华裔航运巨子。

  • Hornoring Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, Dr. James S. C. Chao Gives $40 Million to Harvard Business School

    BOSTON, MA – October 12, 2012 – Harvard University and Harvard Business School have received a $40 million gift from a Dr. James Si-Cheng Chao and family foundation. The gift was given in tribute to the life and legacy of the late Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, beloved matriarch of this most prominent and accomplished Chinese American family. It will support both students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and participants in the School’s Executive Education programs. The Chao family, who is the only family in the School’s history to have four daughters attend, poignantly made their gift during the 50th anniversary celebration of women in Harvard’s MBA program and the 375th anniversary of Harvard University.
