  • Northeast Tigers: Soccer is Our Religion

    “Northeast Tigers” soccer club was established on year 2000. We are all soccer lovers in “Borogh” area: Marlborogh, Westborogh, Northborogh, Southborogh and Worcester, and play every Sunday since then. We have average 30 people in our club. Most of us are Chinese. Some Brazilian friends joined us as well (4 to 6). “Happy soccer” is our slogan. “Soccer” is our Religion (Sunday Moring Play instead of Pray).

    夏去秋来，煦日和风，西半球古老的海运枢纽——美国波士顿港焕发着别样生机。随着巨型货轮陆续进港，码头工人开始忙碌，塔吊旋即运转，货车来来往往，卸载远渡重洋而来的货物。

    这样忙碌而繁荣的场景，每周五都会在悬挂中国国旗的货轮上出现。此情此景，在62岁的波士顿人哈金看来是那么熟悉。站在港边，他动情地对记者说，是中国中远集团2002年选择挂靠波士顿港才带来了眼前的这一切。作为中远与波士顿港联姻的“媒人”，任职于美中合作发展委员会的哈金见证了中远十年来与波士顿港合作的全过程。

  • New Bostonians Summit: Immigrant Families’ Educational and Economic Success is Boston’s Future

    The New Bostonioan Summit was held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 8:00 AM at City Year’s Lavine Civic Forum. The half-day summit focused on top issues facing Boston’s immigrants. About 250 Boston’s immigrants and representatives from several sectors attended the Summit The half-day summit provided an update on the New Bostonians Agenda, a collective response to three of the biggest issues facing Boston’s immigrants: educational attainment for their children (K-12 Education); English language acquisition (ESOL); and economic success through family-sustaining jobs.

    【侨报周末特约记者李强波士顿报道】距离11月6日的大选日还剩三周，连日红蓝阵营对麻州选民的争夺进入白热化，一方面总统选情激烈，现任总统奥巴马角逐的一方是曾任麻州州长的罗姆尼， 然而最新的民调显示，罗姆尼在麻州以14%比33%的支持率落后于总统奥巴马。红营自不敢掉以轻心，期望在另一场席卷麻州范围的选举中取胜。为入主国会参院，共和党的布朗和民主党的沃伦进入肉搏战，民调则互有胜负。关键性选举扑面而来，麻州选民你准备好了吗？

  • Inaugural Cornell China Conference To Start on October 27

    On the weekend of October 27 – 28, the Cornell China Conference will be held in Cornell University, a member of the prestigious Ivy League located in Ithaca, New York. Cornell Chinese Students Association (CCSA), the organizer of this conference states that the theme of the conference is to discuss the perspectives of China given the background of national reformation and transformation.

  • Over Half a Billion Views, Gangnam Style Inspires Boston’s International Students

    Boston – As of October 22, the Youtube video titled “PSY – GANGNAM STYLE (강남스타일) M/V” has had over 528 million views, over 2 million comments, 2.3 million comments, 4.3 millions likes and 223,000 dislikes. The video was uploaded on July 15, 2012. So, in about 100 days, the daily average views on Youtube is over 5 million per day.

  • 波士顿竞争全球最具创新力城市 华人科技精英贡献多

    ​【侨报周末特约记者李强波士顿报道】2011年，波士顿超过旧金山湾区，成为全球最具创新力的城市。为了帮助波士顿蝉联“世界最具有创新力城市”称号，波士顿市长曼宁诺日前号召市民积极投票。值得一提的是，波士顿地区的华人在提升本市创新力方面所作出的贡献不容忽视。

    据报道，《华尔街日报》推出的“年度城市”之“世界最具创新力城市”的评选活动，已经从200个城市中选出25个获得提名的城市，除波士顿入选之外，还有纽约、芝加哥、伦敦、上海、深圳、香港、墨尔本、多伦多等地。


    		 波士顿地区在基础科学、生物医药、信息科技、新能源新材料等方面的雄厚研发实力使波士顿在“世界最具创新力城市”的竞争中颇为抢眼。不为人知的是，波士顿地区的华裔科学家、华人专业协会和中国留学生、华裔学生的贡献，已经成为波士顿汇聚世界一流创新力的一个重要支撑。 10月10日，麻省理工学院在其官方网站的首页，以封面图片的形式报道了中科大校友李巨教授的成就。这篇以《徜徉在量子材料世界》为题的报道介绍了李巨教授获得的科研成果。文章称，李巨从原子尺度设计出的新材料，在未来新能源领域将得到广泛应用。同时，他还成功设计了全球最小的电池。
