  • Obama Stopped “Deportation” of Hecklers during Speech on Immigration

    San Francisco, Nov. 25, 2013, — President Obama delivered a speech on immigration reform today at Betty Ong Chinese Recreation Center in San Francisco, California. The speech was briefly interrupted by two hecklers. Obama stopped the secret service agents from removing the hecklers, who yelled “Stop deportations!” repeatedly.

  • Acton’s Iris Zhao Qualifies for U.S. Figure Skating Championships

    Acton, Mass., Nov. 23, 2013, — Washington Figure Skating Club (WFSC), the largest U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned Club, is the host of the 2014 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships, November 19-23, 2013, at Ashburn Ice House. In the Juvenile Girls completion on Nov. 20, 12-year-old Iris Zhao from Acton, Mass. finished at fourth place, and qualified for Prudential 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships to be held in Boston from Jan. 5 to 12, 2014.

  • Young Pianist Kevin Zhao Holds Recital at Longy School of Music

Ten years later, you can see how proud Dr. Lin was from the smiles on her face at Kevin Zhao’s recital at Longy School of music in the evening of Nov. 9, 2013.

  • Fear Rises as Brutal “Knockout Game” Spreads

In a latest TV report by Channel 2 CBS station in NYC, more and more people have become victims of the so-called “knockout game.”

    Cambridge, Mass., Nov. 8, 2013, — Harvard China Night 2013 was held at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government (HKS) at the evening of Nov. 1, 2013. This year’s theme is “China’s Next Ten Years: Business as (Un)usual”. Three distinguished guests: Dr. Gao Jian, Dr. Zhang Yujun and Prof. John A. Quelch delivered keynote speeches. Traditional Chinese cultural performances won loud applause from hundreds of attendees. This event was organized by HKS China Students and Scholars Association (CSSA).

  • China Shocks the Supercomputer Community Again with HUST’s HPL Championship at ISC 2013

    BEIJING, /PRNewswire/ — On June 19 (German time), the 2013 International Student Cluster Challenge (ISC’13) was closed in Leipzig, Germany. The team from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China has won the Best Linpack award and set a world new record with 8.455TFLOPS. The team from the Centre for High Performance Computing of South Africa won the Overall Best award, and the team from Tsinghua University ranked second in terms of overall score at ISC’13. It is China’s second championship at ISC’13 after Tianhe-2 claimed the lead in the Top500 list. The world is marveling at China’s rapid development in system research, application development, and talent education in the field of supercomputers.
