    Boston, July 7, 2017, — Chinatowns across the country face the threat of gentrification despite their historical and current importance as cultural and political sanctuaries for the Asian American community. Boston’s Chinatown is no exception, with its borders seeing rapid erosion in recent years. In its 30 years of community building, the Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC) has been integral to the movement of preserving Boston’s Chinatown, with creative placemaking as part of its core mission since 2013.

  • Boston Public Library Hosts Free Wedding Ceremonies of Five Lucky Couples

    Boston – June 15, 2017 – Boston Public Library hosted the wedding ceremonies of five couples in the first-ever giveaway of this kind on Sunday, June 11, in the iconic Italianate courtyard at the Central Library in Copley Square. Winners were selected via an online lottery held in early 2017.

    Boston, June 8, 2017, — Just as Asian American Civic Association(AACA) is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary on June 9, Chau-ming Lee, the long-time executive director of AACA, passed away on June 6. Mr. Lee has dedicated his life to server the immigrant communities in the greater Boston area.

  • Jim McGovern and Michelle Wu Named to Receive Roosevelt Awards

    Boston – The Massachusetts Democratic Party has named Congressman Jim McGovern and Boston City Council President Michelle Wu as this year’s recipients of the Party’s Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Awards. Bestowed annually upon two distinguished Democrats, the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Awards are the highest honors presented by the Massachusetts Democratic Party. Congressman McGovern and Councilor Wu will be honored at the Party’s Annual Roosevelt Award Dinner on Wednesday, May 31st at the Omni Parker House in Boston.

    Wu is running for reelection as Boston City Councilor at large.

  • Asian American Coalition for Education Marks 135th Anniversary of Chinese Exclusion Act

    Livingston, New Jersey, May 6, 2017 — In remembering the 135th anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, the Asian American Coalition for Education (AACE) issued the following statement, calls upon all Asian American individuals, organizations and elected officials to jointly condemn and reject all race-based discriminatory policies and practices of any type, including illegal use of race in college admissions:

  • John Hancock Brings Elite Runners to Hopkinton Marathon Rally

    HOPKINTON, MA – April 13, 2017 – John Hancock brought 2012 men’s champion Wesley Korir, 2015 women’s champion Caroline Rotich, and several other elite Kenyan athletes to a pre-marathon rally with nearly 600 students from Hopkinton’s Elmwood Elementary School. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the first time John Hancock brought Kenyan athletes to the school for this event.
