    PASADENA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– East West Bancorp, Inc. (“East West” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: EWBC), parent company of East West Bank, the financial bridge between the United States and Greater China, today reported financial results for the second quarter of 2014. For the second quarter of 2014, net income was $84.0 million or $0.58 per diluted share. East West increased second quarter net income by $10.0 million or 13% and earnings per diluted share by $0.06 or 12% from the prior year period.

  • California Must Follow B.C. and Apologize to the Chinese Community

    San Fransisco, July 10, 2014, — The legislature of British Columbia, Canada passed motion to apologize to the Chinese community in May 2014 for historical wrongs.

    The apology, which was introduced by Premier Christy Clark, aimed to recognize and make amends for 160 historical racist and discriminatory policies imposed in B.C., such as denying Chinese immigrants the right to vote and charging them a head tax to immigrate.
