    The United States Government assesses with high confidence that the Syrian government carried out a chemical weapons attack in the Damascus suburbs on August 21, 2013. We further assess that the regime used a nerve agent in the attack. These all-source assessments are based on human, signals, and geospatial intelligence as well as a significant body of open source reporting. Our classified assessments have been shared with the U.S. Congress and key international partners. To protect sources and methods, we cannot publicly release all available intelligence – but what follows is an unclassified summary of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s analysis of what took place.

  • Confucius Institute of URI Hosts Workshop for CSL Teachers

    Kingston, R.I., August 28, 2013, — From August 21 to 25, the Confucius Institute of the University of Rhode Island held a teacher training workshop, where 55 teachers of Chinese as a Second Language(CSL) came from all over New England and some other states, living together, eating together, attending lectures, and sharing their stories and experiences with each other. The workshop is sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, and hosted by the Confucius Institute at University of Rhode Island.

  • Thank-you Letter from Chinese Students Presented to Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis

    Boston, August 27, 2013 — Ms. Xiuli Shi and Mr. Lee Libbey from Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology (IMUST) in Baotou city, China presented Commissioner Ed Davis with a Thank-you letter signed by hundreds of students at Boston Police headquarters this morning. Commissioner Davis accepted the Thank-you letter on behalf of all law enforcement personnel who were involved in the Boston Marathon bombings and its aftermath.

  • Mayor Menino Launches Renew Boston Solarize as First E+ Home Opens

    Boston, August 27, 2013, — Mayor Thomas M. Menino today announced the launch of Renew Boston Solarize, a three-month campaign to make solar panels more affordable and accessible for Boston homeowners and small businesses. Mayor Menino, who had solar panels installed on his home in Hyde Park last year, has set a goal of 150 new residential-scale solar power installations in Boston, representing a 50 percent increase from last year’s campaign.

  • Oaklee Sidwell Remembered for Her Loving Spirit

    (Southern Utah girl Oaklee Sidwell passed away after a wind gust picked up the backyard trampoline she was sitting on and sent it flying more than 150 feet.)

    Our sweet Oaklee Lynn Sidwell, 9, left us on August 14, 2013 in Salt Lake City, after a tragic accident. She was surrounded by all of her loving family as she went back into the arms of her Heavenly Father. She was born July 11, 2004 in Panguitch to Tracy and Desiree Griffin Sidwell, the sister of Tyler and Jordan Sidwell.

His popular restaurant, Amherst Chinese Food, attracts people from all over the Pioneer Valley to its fresh, organic, delicious Chinese food. Dr. Chang is a strong believer in soil re-mineralization; he has been using rock dust on his organic farm since 1995 in his determined quest to eliminate the need for pesticides and to grow nutrient-dense food. At this point, his soil has become so rich that he has not felt the need to add rock dust in the last few years.
