HOUSTON, July 5 — The Houston Rockets agreed to terms with New York Knicks restricted free agent guard Jeremy Lin on Thursday, according to a local newspaper. Unless, the New York Knicks matches Houston’s offer by July 11, Lin will become the next Asian basketball star after Yao Ming in Houston.

Raquel’s most emotional moments seem to be when she’s sitting on an airplane. Seated comfortably (or not so comfortably, depending on the airline) in her own allotted space, this is a time when her mind is her own. It’s a time when her thoughts stir and occur, digest and contest, review and renew. It’s also a time of change, an element in life of which Raquel has quite the penchant for. Whether it was the seven year-old, toothy-grinned kid en route to Vancouver from Bangkok, about to start a new life in the west, or the starry-eyed 18 year-old teenager on her first flight to Boston to begin college, or, most recently, the ambitious but somewhat frightened “young lady” jetting across the world to Beijing – one thing remained constant. These moments of symbolic and physical transition were when she felt most alive.

The Wuhan Dragon Boat Race Aims to Attract Teams from Oxford, Cambridge and Yale in 2013

The first-ever Dragon Boat Race was held on June 17 in the Wuhan East Lake with participation from Wuhan University (WHU) and Huazhong University of Technology and Science (HUST). More than 44 players from both schools finally made a tie.

Talented Young Students from China To Perform at Lexington Town Hall Auditorium

In order to promote Chinese culture and cultural exchange between China and the global community, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China’s State Council has carefully selected 20 outstanding, talented students from China and formed Chinese Culture Land – Talented Juvenile Troupe. The second annual “Pitch to China” Business Plan Contest was launched on July 1, 2012, and starts to accept business plan submissions. As an important component of MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (MIT-CHIEF), the Contest strives to connect new technologies and business models with investment and experience from both China and the US. This year, 6 teams will enter the final round and compete for more than $20,000 cash prize. One interesting feature of the contest is that there is no restriction on the background of the contestants and also no restriction on the type of the business, which gives great flexibility to the contestants.

Building a World-Class University, President Gong Ke on the Future of Nankai University

On the evening of May 8, the 6-member delegation from Nankai University headed by President Gong Ke(龚克) received a warm welcome party hosted by Boston Nankai Alumni Association at Jing Chuan Restaurant in Boston Chinatown. Nearly 60 Nankai alumni participated in the event. They cherished the rare opportunity, and listened carefully to the President Gong and Vice President Guan Naijia’s speeches, which covered a number of topics that included the construction of a new campus, overseas exchange programs for undergraduate students as well as the worldwide talents recruiting policy. The alumni also offered advice on the future development of Nankai University.
