    Boston, Dec. 8, 2015, — Chinatown Main Street(CMS) welcomed Mayor Marty Walsh to Chinatown to offer his greetings and holiday wishes to the Chinatown community on Sunday. Hundreds of residents and vistors enjoyed the festivities and kids took the opportunity to take pictures with the Santa Clause.

  • Detectives Seize $100K Worth of Stolen Goods from My-Tan Fashion in Chinatown

    Dec. 1, 2015, — On Tuesday November 24, 2015, detectives assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) executed a search warrant at My-Tan Fashion located at 693 Washington Street as a result of a ten month long investigation into a large scale retail crime operation. Investigators seized approximately 5,000 pieces of merchandise believed to be valued at about $100,000.

  • Director Eng Attends My Life In China Screening in Boston

    Boston Nov. 22, 2015, — I went to St. James Church in Boston Chinatown this morning, and met a lot of old friends and took a lot of pictures. Also went next door to Tuft’s Auditorium for a Chinese documentary movie. The afternoon event was very well attended.

  • Boston Chinese Community Marks 149th Birthday of Sun Yat-sen

    Boston, Nov. 12, 2015, — Today is the birthday of Sun Yat-sen (Nov. 12, 1866 – March 12, 1925), first president and founding father of the Republic of China. The painting below was created by artist Minghuang Zhang to honor Mr. Sun’s birthday. The photo was taken recently at Empire Auction Inc. office in Boston Chinatown.

  • CHSNE Annual Meeting Reflects on Impact of the 1965 Immigration Law

    Boston, Nov. 10, 2015, — Chinese History Society of New England(CHSNE) held it annual meeting and dinner banquet at Empire Garden restaurant Friday evening. The theme of this year’s annual meeting is Impact of 1965: Immigration Law and Chinese in Boston. About 200 CHSNE members and guests attended the annual meeting.

  • Arthur Wong and Gary Libby to be Honored by CHSNE

    Boston, Nov. 5, 2015, — The annual meeting and dinner banquet of Chinese History Society of New England (CHSNE) will be held Friday (Nov. 6) evening at Empire Garden restaurant in Chinatown. The theme of this year’s annual meeting is Impact of 1965: Immigration Law and Chinese in Boston. Well-known Chinatown leader and WWII veteran Arthur Wong, 91, and Gary Libby of Maine will be honored at this event.

    Boston, Oct. 31, 2015, — It was a nice day for trick and treat today while teams of volunteers joined Chinatown Main Street(CMS) Fall Street Cleaning this morning. The sudden passing of Tony Yee, former president of board of CMS might have inspired many to show up in memory of Yee, who was a tireless advocate for better and more attractive business environment for Chinatown.

  • Councilor Wu’s Reelection Campaign Kicks off GOTV Weekend

    Boston, Oct. 30, 2015, — With Election Day just four days away, Boston City Councilor “I need your help to make sure I’m reelected as a Boston City Councilor-At-Large.   • Chinatown Calls for Eviction Protections as Rent Rises in Boston

    Boston, Sept. 23, 2015, — “Stop evictions and rent inflation. Hear the call of the Renter Nation!” The chants and drums resounded as the R Visions People’s Tour wound its way through the streets of Chinatown. About a hundred residents and community activists joined a march and rally today to call for increased action by city government to protect working class neighborhoods. Stopping at different sites marked by community art installations, community members spoke to the different strategies for stabilizing Chinatown’s future.
