  • Tufts Medical Center Honored at Kwong Kow Chinese School Fundraising Gala

    Boston, Feb. 3, 2015, — Kwong Kow Chinese School(KKCS) held a fundraising dinner party at the Empire Garden Restaurant in Boston Chinatown recently. The theme of the party is “Heritage, Innovation, and Responsibility.” Nearly 500 people attended the party and donated. KKCS collected about $180,000 for their future development. Boston City Councilor-At-Large Michelle Wu, a volunteer at KKCS years ago, congratulated the achievements by the its teachers and students.

    Life without language: all the ideas, thoughts, and emotions present, but unable to be expressed. This is how I picture my grandfather when he first immigrated to America with my grandmother and their nine children. Lost, he wanders around, hoping to bump into someone who can understand him. He raises his own children to know Vietnamese and hopes his future grandchildren would also be connected to the language of their ancestors. But when I form my lips into unnatural shapes to speak these words, they come out pathetically.

  • Neil Chyten Analyzes Changes Coming to the New SAT

    How can the name of a star help you master the New SAT coming in March 2016?

    The New SAT Reading Test will have four single passages and one set of paired passages.  Each passage or pair will be 500 – 750 words in length and will be accompanied by 10-11 questions. There will be a total of 52 questions and students will have 65 minutes to finish. There are four distinct groupings (and several subgroupings) of question types that may be best learned by using the acronym: VEGA:

    V = Vocabulary
    E = Evidence
    G = Graphics
    A = Analysis

  • Asian Women Needed for AWARE Study at BU School of Social Work

    Dec. 9, 2014, — The AWARE Study (Asian Women’s Action for Resilience and Empowerment) is a research study designed to promote the mental health well-being of Asian-American Women. More Chinese-American, Vietnamese-American or Korean-American women are needed to participate in a clinical trial to develop the full AWARE intervention by participating in a group psychotherapy intervention with other Asian-American women.
